Welcome to Seattle, WA. The new most liberal city in America.

I am proud to be from Seattle (I live just outside of it in Bellevue), King County and Washington State today. We are now on the verge of becoming the most liberal city in America, passing San Francisco.

Yesterday we passed a 100% legal marijuana usage law (which I do not personally smoke, but to each his own), and today we also passed gay marriage on the state level with an election (which was already approved by the legislature and governor). We got rid of state control over liquor last election as well. We have an all-mail election with over 6.8 million people (4mil RV) in this state with turnout rates nearing 90%. We have woman's pro-choice, union support, support for the ACA (I refuse to call it Obamacare), and Democrat control of the state House, Senate, and governor. We've had women and minorities in high places like senators and governors, and we drive on good roads (traffic still sucks) and have good education with high literacy rates and college degrees (Go UW!). And we've got a state-guarunteed college tuition program. And there is so much more!

But we're also sensible here. We are one of the few states that don't have income tax and continue to reject it. We generally keep our government in check when it comes to taxes and tax issues and the voters continue to expect creative ways to balance our budget.

We are the home of Microsoft, Amazon, a majority of Boeing, Starbucks, T-Mobile, Nintendo, Expedia, Costco, Alaska Airlines, and more.

Are we the perfect or best state? NO! All states have their issues.

But today I am HAPPY to call myself a Washingtonian.
